Why can't I set my differential to any of the following 2, 2.5, 3 or 3.5?

The differental temperature is tied to the the swing on the thermostat. On the CT80b these setting are found under comfort and are called Aux on (differential) and Heat Pump cycling (swing).

The swing on the thermostat has to be lower then the differential setting.  So to make sure that happens the software will only allow certain differential settings based on the swing settings.  See chart below:

Swing (Heat Pump cycling)          Differential range (Aux on)
     .5                                             2 to 6
      1                                             2 to 6
      1.5                                          3 to 6
      2                                             3 to 6
      2.5                                          4 to 6
      3                                             4 to 6
      3.5                                          5 to 6
      4                                             5 to 6

Note: Swing range may be different depending on model: for example CT80b swing range is .5 to 3
